So it was Johnny Cash’s birthday yesterday. I missed it, like I did International Vulture Day, but today is just as good I suppose.

Oh my goodness…. I loved the Johnny Cash show when I was growing up….. I know I know I”m confessing my age here but I was probably the only lil black project kid, with pigtails who hummed along and knew all the words to his songs…. I loved me some Johnny Cash. LOL LOL
I loved that show too! I saw Merle Haggard and Gordon Lightfoot and all kinds of fabulous people on with him, back in the day. I was just a little kid too, and didn’t know who people like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell and Neil Young were at the time (more’s the pity) but he had them all on. I loved him. I liked the Mac Davis show too, and I watched Hee Haw (for the music) and what else? Star Trek. The Mary Tyler Moore show. Gilligan’s Island. Walter Cronkite.
lol lol all of the above and I loved the Johnny Carson show as well. Was way past my bedtime when he came on but I was glued to the set just to watch the skits and the musical talent he would have on… i love country music to this day thanks to Mr. Cash,
I wasn’t allowed to stay up late; even at 8 years old my bedtime was 8 pm, an outrage I am still fuming over. I missed a LOT. This is likely part of why I only sleep six hours a night, I hate to think I’m missing anything.
I know that feeling too! I sleep only about 6 hours myself but I was always a night owl.
Do you remember Red Skelton??
I loved most all of the ones mentioned.
And don’t forget Perry Mason!
I never really responded to Perry Mason or the reassuring male doctors. I loved Columbo… The Rockford Files. Quirky oddballs over those square-jawed men who spoke in cadence. I think I missed something with Perry Mason, though, didn’t I?
Well I was always one for the black and white movies and anything that I could not figure out right away. There were so many shows back then…. Marcus Welby, MD and the list goes on. Perry Mason and later Ironside (yep I was a legal buff) I was a huge fan of Columbo and the Rockford Files too. I loved Columbo especially. The smart unassuming detective that always solved the case in the most unusual manner with the simplest of facts. ANd let’s not forget the horror shows back then…lol
I never grasped horror either… it’s like I’m missing the piece that everyone else has that lets them enjoy being frightened, in suspense, or horrified. Life is exciting enough for me without being frightened. I don’t like any of those feelings, or square-jawed clean-cut men I suspect of being Republicans. I don’t like looking in black and white when things are really in colour (except in still photos, I love that). But I do love mental puzzles. I never look at the bodies when I watch Law & Order. I just want the questions, the puzzles over human nature, the dichotomy between intention and action… the mysteries of the mind, of math…

He mystified me, I must admit.
