I finally caught up with A.J. Reardon’s Beaded Cthulhu, very nice. We have the same stuffed toy, unbeaded, on a similar shelf. Also, in a moment of ancient serendipity, the other day I bumped into these great Lovecraftian playing cards from the Cthulhu Lives people.
I must admit that however much I enjoy Cthulhu, I have never read Lovecraft. I can’t think why, and I should remedy that soon. It’s possible that it is too late for me. Dr. Who is another item in that category. I’ve never watched a single one, which is surprising, and even now that it is being written by the amazing Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, I still haven’t tuned in.
I guess it’s nice to have something to look forward to, hmm?

I have read Lovecraft and watched Dr. Who. You will definitely love the show. Lovecraft was ahead of his time. He wrote psychological horror before there was a horror genre so it is worth the effort I think just to see how it all came about. Enjoy!

Beaded Cthulhu will tag along on my next visit so you can catch up with him in person :) I really am quite proud of him.
Lovecraft himself can be so iffy. I have a love-hate relationship with him. He was undoubtedly xenophobic, and that shows up a lot in his work. Plus his prose is pretty purple and dense, so it can be hard to get into… But if you CAN get into it, then there’s all these creepy ideas and amazing dreamscapes.

I’ve read a lot of Lovecraft’s work. He’s amazing! He really liked to play on the fears of people in his time period, like the existence of life on other planets. If you don’t mind white text on a black background, here’s where I read most of his stories:
