Jean and I enjoyed a nice beady visit from A.J. Reardon this morning- she came over to choose another project from our stack to bead up. Happily, she chose a fabulous Mermaid Cuff, with wing-points that meet and form a channel, through which a channel-strip with a clasp (made of CRYSTALS if you ask A.J.) can pass through. Channel strip bracelets can be switched on and off of the Mermaid sleeve for endless entertainment.
It will be fun to see how she interprets it. I gave her the crown that Andrew Thornton made of wire and Roman glass- this is perfect, as she has two Corgis. She can walk them in the park with the crown on. I offered her an ermine-trimmed robe to complete the part, but she said it was “too hot for ermine.”
I accepted the mission of taking the Sea Mistress to high wing-points that meet at the tips, forming a suspension bridge sort of affair over the ring of horns in the middle.
Many plans have been set in motion; pieces and photos and people are on the way.

It IS too hot for ermine! Our corgi-walk in the park today was 80 degrees of gorgeous Spring Tucson weather. I did not wear the crown because I need to decide the best way to fasten it on my head, but many crown-related plans were made (my husband and his mother are both enchanted by it). Thank you again!

It was only ermine-TRIMMED! (And admittedly it isn’t really ermine, but you would still LOOK like the queen!)
Andrew worked hard on that crown- he labored away on it while he was here last winter, when we were all banging up Calder pieces. (which are still around, and in progress- I stalled on my big wings and crown piece, but only temporarily…)

Love that crown and it matched her outfit, too! Cannot wait to see the book and all the wonderful projects.
