distractions

Distractions stack to the rafters. But briefly.  Things are moving forward; as the author of this ride I need to add more here and end things there but the path is good. What I am missing is feathers at my ankles, and a badass headdress.

It hurts to type; I am spending my arm-hours holding beadwork instead. I have bands, and an ice/hot pack, and a nifty little Velcro event that can hold the weight of my forearm while I bead. I am learning more about what hurts and what does not, learning the inner landscape of my elbow. I can fix this.

I am still terribly behind on my email, mostly because it kind of hurts to type. Steadily, however, I advance, and hope to have my swollen river of an inbox beaten back down soon.

So,so sorry about the arm! The Sherrill’s are feeling your pain…Vig with a swimming injury (shoulder)…and my back! It is hard to deal with being inactive and resting. It just sucks.
    Hope you mend soon….

Kate, have you heard of Jin Shin Jyutsu? It’s a new agey sort of healing thing (don’t love that description?) Anyway, it’s really amazing and a friend of mine cured a very bad knee problem by going to a jin shin practitioner. Her other option was surgery and she didn’t want to do that. She has absolutely no problems with that knee any more! Good luck. I hope you can find a peaceful cure!

Just a thought – have you considered getting software that would allow you to dictate verbally – could save the use of the hands.

Have you heard of KT Tape?
I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I learned about it through someone else’s blog. It may or may not be helpful to you.

Here’s a link to the tennis elbow application:

The rest of the site explains what it is and how it works.
Good luck with your elbow. Pain sucks, especially when brought on my small everyday activities. Argh!

Kate, so sorry about your arm. Yuck – I had it in BOTH arms at the same time a few years ago and it was frustrating/infuriating/debilitating/exhausting and it took a long time to go away. Arm bands were like a miracle when I found out about them, then it just took time. And lots of icing them, which I was never very good at sitting down and doing. You’re right, you can fix it – sounds like you’re doing everything you need to be doing. Now, just for the patience part…

Kate, make sure when you type that your arm is fully supported from elbow to wrist, and at the right height.

Thanks, Danielle- the tennis elbow band seems to be fine for typing. I generally have my computer in my lap, my legs out straight, and my forearms resting easily on my thighs.

I am sorry that you are suffering. I hope/pray that you will be mended soon. I’m glad that you are taking good care of yourself.

Have you tried the free Dragon Dictation app for your iPad? It works really well, as long as you’re connected to the Internet. No typing, just talking!

  • Marianne

I can’t type, I have a huge pain in my ass and the only way to fix that would be a minimum of 25-life, so…I’m just sending you much love and wishes you feel pain free very soon. If I had a magic wand, I send it to you, no signature needed!, and you could use all the taps you needed until you are cured! XXOO
