such as this one from the Houston Chronicle, the papers are saying that McCain really lost them with the Palin pick. The right-leaning paper endorsed Obama today.

Perhaps the worst mistake McCain made in his campaign for the White House was the choice of the inexperienced and inflammatory Palin as his vice-presidential running mate. Had he selected a moderate, experienced Republican lawmaker such as Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison with a strong appeal to independents, the Chronicle’s choice for an endorsement would have been far more difficult…

Back in the spring, Obama’s sentiments seemed more a hope than reality. Since then, we have watched him grow in the roles of candidate and leader, maintaining grace under fire without resorting to political expediency. He is by far the best choice to deliver the changes that Americans demand.

Its a real insect, fitted after death with watch parts. This is both beautiful and terrible; a mockery of life.

It’s a curlew! Photo from the National Parks Service. Click the link for the stunning full size shot.

You decide:

Look like fun? Two words:  Mexico. Detroit. Better get on the stick and join the Great Lakes Beadworkers Guild if Michigan in February sounds better than Mexico in January.

The Democrats rose up like lions last night against the hate speech of Michelle Bachmann. And we raised almost $500,000, overnight, for her opponent, the gentle, intelligent and delightful Elwyn Tinklenberg.

On a related note, did you know that my hero E.B. White’s first name was Elwyn?

And you really need to read my friend Jeff Lieber’s piece from early this morning. We all peed our jammies waking up to read it. And if you somehow weren’t convinced from last night’s tape that Michelle Bachmann is a dangerous woman, I invite you to invest five more minutes, and watch her talk about how everything she says and does is God’s Will. This apparently includes running for Congress, fighting the gays, and rooting out every American and Congressperson who are not sufficiently “Pro-America.”

So after you watch this, if you STILL haven’t sent Elwyn five bucks, why not?

Here is what she had to say about Minnesotans in January.

I am so proud to be from the state of Minnesota. We’re the workingest state in the country, and the reason why we are, we have more people that are working longer hours, we have people that are working two jobs.

Boy, that’s really something to be proud of, isn’t it.

Over 100,000 people are at the St. Louis Arch right now, listening to Obama.

How un-American of all of these people.
