I’ve been working on final projects for my class with Gail Moore in Mexico, and for the mighty Great Lakes Beadworkers Guild Bead Daze in Detroit.

I think this shot really sums it all up.
This is McCain, getting confused about where to get off set at the end of tonight’s debate. He looks like a zombie, lurching after Obama’s brains.
From another angle:
Jessica Simpson does this all of the time, too- when she realizes she’s done something stupid she sticks her tongue ALL of the way out. Very odd.
McCain does [...]

More on seeing owls.
Allison Shock weighs in on owl-seeing, and not-seeing.
Vertical Napping Bark photo by A. Shock; Great Horned Owl with downy chick, San Pedro River, AZ.

I’m still working through the Birds Of Arizona books
using some of my free time to learn about my feathery friends. Naturally I remain obsessed with owls. Here is a grumpy screech owl, awakened by a mob of songbirds trying to chase it off.
The Firefly site consistently gives me better ID photos than any of my books. Look at those LEGS!

I knew I liked Joe Maddon.
The coach of the Tampa Bay Rays is rising high in my personal pantheon.
Beating Boston is a pretty great way to my heart, but he’s a thinker, an economist, and a cook. I knew I liked him. Here are a few cuts from a Sports Illustrated article of October 6th. (My favorite parts in bold.) [...]
